2-8-0 and Water Tank |
Description: |
Engine is a Bachmann 2-8-0 with Tsunami sound, Tank is Evergreenhill model, and truck is a Christmas tree ornament from Carlton Cards. It was orginally a stake body that I kitbashed into a coal truck. Bumper is from Peco, supposedly HO scale but seems a perfect fit for On30 |

Rio Grande K27 #452 |
Description: |
This is one of two MMI K27s on my On30 roster. Both engines are DCC equipped with the controling decoder in the boiler and the sound decoder in the tender along with two speakers. By doing the DCC installation that way, these engines have been around 20 inch radius curves even though the stated minimum radius is 26 inches. By doing the two decoders, the number of wires between the engine and tender are reduced from 8 to 2. These engines are cast metal with brass detail parts and weigh in at a whopping 6.5 pounds each! |

Bachmann 2-8-0 on the timber trestle |
Description: |
This is one of two of these wonderful engines from Bachmann. It is an outside frame model that comes with a wealth of extra parts including three fuel loads, three different stacks, pilot trucks, pilots and more. This engine can easily handle about 15 Bachmann On30 cars up the 2.5 to +3% grade on the upper portion of this pic. Both the 2-8-0s are equipped with Soundtraxx Tsunami decoders and the sound is OUTSTANDING!! |

Before Bachmann announced their On30 steel, 2 bay hoppers, I invested in two of these S scale hoppers. The difference in size between this hopper and one of the Bachmann hoppers is hardly noticeable. On30 modelers have been using S scale hoppers for years. |

Yeah, I know, the EBT never had such a thing, BUT, anything lettered EBT is an interest to me. This thing is really a hoot. The start up sequence with the motor sputterng and struggling to get started is just great. When it runs, as it is accelerated, the motor revs and then you hear the gears being shifted. |
